Because it goes back to your original point:
If it were a George Bush /Curious George, it was imply that Bush was incautious, inquisitive, naive and a little stupid; which people wouldn't have a problem.
Put Barak Obama on it and suddenly it because fraught with (unintended?) racial overtones.
