Jim -

Just found your blog, and I'm loving it lots! Hope you finally got a chance to see your interview in DRAW! magazine we did last year - it's my favorite so far.

Talk soon, and I'll keep reading!

There's something really satisfying about drawing a brick wall by hand and looking at the finished product develop. Nice toon - love the execution.

Dear Jim,
I'm a couple days behind in my Borgblog. The cartoon re:grandma doing the roofing. Well, we seem to have a difference.
My contention is, our economic system is set up on supply and demand. You get, and I get as much money as "the system" will allow with supply and demand.
BUT....with Illegal aliens, they are not allowing the supply and demand economics work. Their labor is outside the economic structure the rest of us contend with.
Minorities in this country Would more likely do their work, IF they could compete like you and I do. The demand for their wages would rise to a 'living wage'. We would not Need illegal aliens in this country. The inner city would have improved job opportunities with a living wage.
If those in Mexico and find the lettuce fields of California those in LA inner city can also.
BUT, you and I like our lettuce, fruits, vegtables, homes constructed, lawns groomed at BELOW living wages and outside the laws of supply and demand. Therefore, our government has allowed the situation to persist. It benifits the more wealthy and hurts the less fortunate.
AND many illegal aliens pay taxes that are with held on their W2 forms. This money is never rebated to them. This helps our government. If they become 'legal' they will ask for and receive their just tax rebates. Now, fear keeps them from filing income taxes. THey are fearful the govt. will find them and send them back home, across the border, therefore they let our govt. keep their rebates.
AND then,OIL. There is oil in Mexico. A corrupt cartel of 14 families that have a large influence in Mexico's govt. and oil business, like our country as a place discouraged can go. They are fearful on civil unrest increasing if many could not go over our borders. This keep the Mexican Govt. happy, oil flowing, our lower class economics depressed and the more wealthy happy to pay for below living wages prices.
All this does NOT mean, ILLEGAL aliens have a RIGHT to migrate here. AND...I'd feel a lot more comfortable with the whole situation if they LEARNED ENGLISH, so they could sing the National Anthem in ENGLISH.... AND when they march with their signs saying, 'we are not CRIMINALS'.... They could be displaying the USA flag, NOT the Mexican flag. If they are so patriotic to MEXICO that they will not march with the USA flag, then I wonder where their loyalities lie.
Oh, let's not forget, when the illegals become legals, learn to speak English, they will press for higher living wages that everyone wants for themselves and their families.
Oh, and thank you for the kind Email. It was good to see Suzanne on Saturday.

Am I the only living person who remembers the Cleveland syndicate? Those who will not remember history are doomed to even more doo-doo.

You forgot to put a door on the wall in which we want the legal immigrents to use.

hey anon....don't waste your breath.

Borgman doesnt understand what you're saying, anyways. He sees something in the news, does absolutely no research on it, and then comes to a conclusion as to what his opinion is and and draws his little cartoons about it.

Found a NY Post -- one paper I refuse to buy -- at the coffee shop today.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a Borgman cartoon in it (Granny on the roof). Hey, if they keep this up I just may have to break down and buy that Murdoch product.

A rediculous interpretation of what we need to do with the immigration problems... Not only did you forget the door for LEGAL immigration you forgot the line of Irish, Austrailian, Arabs, other Latinos and all the other individuals that want to become a positive influence to our great Nation legally!!!
